This match was played on 11/04/23 and Chatham Dorset needed 8 points to take 2nd spot in Div One. Their opponents were Luton Invicta 2 who also had a chance of the runners-up spot if they could by some miracle record a 10-0 result. The evening started well for the visitor's with Dave Hopkins' 4 leg victory over Frank Wing. Dave also beat Jacob Goodchild in the 4th game of the match to get Luton's 2nd point so the question now was could Dorset take all remaining points. Perry Oliver won all his games for Dorset and Jacob and Frank both beat Ross Childs and Mick "The Jeans" Barber who was called up from the 2nd division to complete Invicta's line-up. So it was all down to the Doubles and with Ross and Dave's impressive record this season this was not going to be easy. However, Jacob and Perry were up to the task and won in straight legs to secure the 8th vital point that Dorset needed. A remarkable late run of results to get Dorset the runners-up position pipping Rainham 3 who had held the position for most of the season. Luton finish 5th.
