Match Report

After six straight defeats Boxley 1 got back on track with a welcome win against visitor's Sturdee 3. The evening didnt start well for the hosts as Sturdee went 2-0 up when Neil Tydeman beat Lyndon Gurr in 4 legs and Jaspal Plaha won 11-9 in the 5th against Barry Roles. Thereafter, however, Boxley won all remaining points which was amazing given there were some very close games which could have gone either way. Gary Hentschel showed no signs of tiredness having attended his son's Stag weekend, and was Player of the Match, winning all his games in 4 legs. He also partnered Gurr to success in the Doubles (16-14 in the 5th) to ensure a post 11pm finish at Bluebell Hill Village Hall. Mike Porter completed Sturdee's line-up in only his 2nd start of the season. He showed all his usual retrieval skills and determination but had no luck in this match.
