Liam Pitchford’s Falcons team got off to a winning start in the first ever fixture of the Ultimate Table Tennis league in India.

The Falcons defeated RP-SG Mavericks 15-12 in Chennai, with Pitchford on show in match four of the nine-match fixture against Stefan Fegerl of Austria.

His opponent won the first two games but Pitchford took the third, earning a point for his team as the format means every game counts. The match score was 11-6, 11-9, 9-11 in Fegerl’s favour.

The next fixture for Falcons is against Dabang Smashers on Sunday.
