Tamas goes to the top of the pile

Competitive play continued in the Kendal & District Table Tennis League with the second round of matches in this year’s Summer League taking place at Natland Table Tennis Club on Tuesday, June 6th. After 2 rounds, Natland’s Tamas Bacsi is now leading the way at the top of Division 1, with 8 wins out of 11 matches. He is closely followed by Phil Swift and John Howarth, both of Crook Table Tennis Club, each with 7 wins out of 11.  10 year old Jake Haygarth, from Kirkby Stephen, promoted to Division 1 at the end of the last session, cemented his place in Division 1 with wins over Natland’s Andrew Hudson and Rin Colombi. Kirkby Stephen’s Andrew Leach and Natland youngster Archie Catnach, each with 5 wins out of 6, were both promoted to Division 1. There is still room for a couple of extra players and anyone interested should contact Mick Taylor at Natland Table Tennis Club.

Social table tennis continues to develop at the new Kendal Table Tennis Club which opened on May 2nd. The club runs every Tuesday, from 7-9 in the evening, all year round,   at the Kendal Leisure Centre. With 2 more players set to join, the club will shortly have 10 fully paid up members. As a result of the club’s success in its first month, 3 more table tennis tables were moved into the Leisure Centre last week. The club offers a fun environment, at a great venue, for players of all standards, with everyone trying to enjoy it and improve their table tennis. We are still looking for 4 more members. Anyone interested in ‘coming and trying it’ should email tony@lonsdaleconsulting.co.uk or text 07814 029471 to reserve a place.
