Drinkhall cannot inspire T2 victory

Paul Drinkhall showed some good form but his team lost all three fixtures of the second round of the T2 championships in Malaysia.

Fresh from reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open, Drinkhall continued his form in the first match, defeating world No 13 Chuang Chih-Yuan of Chinese Taipei 4-0. However, the overall match score saw Team Rossi beaten 16-12 by team JJ.

There followed a narrow defeat to Team Maze, who prevailed 13-12, with Drinkhall defeated 3-1 by Russia’s Alexandr Shibaev in a close match.

And the final fixture saw Drinkhall on the wrong end of another close battle as he was defeated 3-2 by Korea’s world No 17 Joo Saehyuk as Team Rossi lost 18-13 to Team Persson.
