It is with great regret that i sadly have to announce the passing of John Monk who died yesterday.
John had over the last 4 years or so, spent long periods in hospital battling against stomach and bowel cancer. He seemed to be recovering well, even returning to play some table tennis. He was then suddenly struckdown with throat cancer, which he hoped he would get over, but unfortunately this was not to be.
john had played for many years, off and on, in the Diss League. When he was well he was a top player.
inspite of all his health problems John always loved a good laugh and a curry after a match.
He was a strong cheerful character and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

John Monks Funeral will be held on Monday 13th January 2025 @ 11:30am at South Essex Crematorium.
Those of you who wish to go and pay their respects, would you please let David Mortlock or Trevor Cottee know.
It would be good if a few people were able to make it.
