Derby Closed Tournament - Updated 03-Jan-16

Updated 03/01/2016

This year’s entry is slightly down on last year’s, play starts at 09:15 prompt.

The venue will be open from 08:45. Could players please remember to 'Check In' at the Control Desk on arrival, thanks.

All players will be expected to:

1) Check-in at the Control Desk ( located in the main hall ).

2) When ‘not playing’, help out with the umpiring.

3) When called to play your match, due to the high number of fixtures to complete on the day, please don’t spend too much time ‘knocking up’.

As per previous seasons, hot drinks, cakes, and a variety of sandwiches can be purchased on the day ( at a very reasonable price ).

If anyone is in possession of a ‘Derby League’ trophy, you can return it to Brian Savage ( at Draycott ) on Sunday ( if you wish ).

The 'voting' had a lower turnout than a bye election, but thanks to those of you that did respond. All votes were counted and the results discussed during the November D&DTTA committee meeting. We have listened to the players ( those of you that voted ), option 'A' was the popular choice. We will therefore run the Derby Closed Tournament on one day ( Sunday 10th Jan 2016 ). Don't forget to send your entry in ( can be found in the centre pages of the hand book ).

The 2015-16 Derby Closed Tournament will take place on Sunday 10th January 2016. The event has been well supported for the last 2 years, and looking at how we can improve it, a suggestion has been put forward to hold all the 'final' on a separate evening.

For those of you thinking of entering the 'Derby Closed' would you like to:

a. Play the entire tournament on the same day ( as we've done in the past )

b. Play all the finals on a separate evening ( possibly Sunday 17th or 24th January )

c. Not bothered either way.
