Maurice at Rougham TTC

The following is a summary of Maurice's life in table tennis:

Maurice Fearn was introduced to Table Tennis by his father in February 1947.

Moving to Rougham in 1965 his first involvement in the local Table Tennis scene was to help set up a club at Beyton School with a team entered in the Stowmarket League.
In 1967 Maurice helped start up the Bury St Edmunds and District Table Tennis League and is the only person from that year still involved in the sport. He was Chairman from 1968 until 1973 - he came back on to that committee in 2003 as Coaching Secretary for the following eight years.

When the Beyton club closed down in 1974 Maurice and many of its members joined Thurston TTC.  With the opening of Rougham Sports Hall in 1994 he took the opportunity to set up Rougham Table Tennis Club which now enters its 25th season.  He was also involved in starting up the Bury St Edmunds Table Tennis Club in 1998 and acted as Secretary for the next nine years.

Maurice sat on the committee of the Suffolk County Table Tennis Association and managed the Suffolk Cadet and Junior teams for a few seasons.  He qualified as a Level 2 ETTA Coach in 1998 and now holds a UKCC Level 2 Coaching Certificate.  Having qualified as a Coach Maurice for several years conducted after school sessions at four schools in the Bury St Edmunds area.

Now in its 25th year Rougham Table Tennis Club is the sole focus of his coaching and administration activity.
