Match Report

TECHNICALITY COSTS NOMADS FIRST WIN!

It was a costly night for Graves Park Nomads when they welcomed Boston Squash Club because despite winning 7-3 on the night, ended up losing 4-6 due to fielding a player not registered with Table-Tennis England. On paper, this was an evenly matched battle between the two bottom teams of the division. Boston Squash Club got off to the best possible start with Dave Hill winning the first match against Russ Freeman in straight sets. His Club Captain then doubled that lead when Dave Tennent comfortably beat Steve Sykes, also in straight sets. Steve Sykes did get his first point of the season though with a battling performance against Dave Hill, taking the game in straight sets although he was taken to deuce on two occasions. He then followed that up with a more confident performance against the unlucky Nikki Eden-Smith, who has all the right shots but just lacks that bit of confidence, Steve coming through in straight sets. Russ Freeman also got his second of the night with a four set victory over Dave Tennent. Alan Davy won all his matches for Nomads but unfortunately these had to be conceded due to not being eligible as he wasn't registered with Table-Tennis England.
