Bolton News 23 October

In the Premier Division of the Bolton Table Tennis League, the top two teams were both pegged back a little by their opposition. Flixton ppong A met mid-table Coburg A who were able to get 9 games with a final result of 21 – 9 for Flixton. Stephen Scowcroft and Pawel  Orzechowski obliged with nine points each. Second-placed Ramsbottom Town A beat Little Lever Cricket Club A 21 – 11 with Andrew Jackson on nine for Ramsbottom. Third-placed Hilton A  beat ninth-placed Ladybridge A 22 – 13 despite a resisting nine from Andrew Evans. Radcliffe TTC who had slumped to second-bottom now had a good win over fourth-placed Burning Desire 25 – 8 with nines from Gabriel Wilding and Kristoph Pinter.

Hilton D now leaders in Division One beat their own mid-table C team 22 – 14  helped by nine from Mathew Fishwick. Second-placed Polonia Club A have their result to come. Third-placed Coburg B overcame tenth-placed Wingates 26 – 12 with nines coming from Chris Naylor and Kevin Chapman. Mid-table Meadow Ben A capitalised on bottom of the table Farnworth Social Circle A 22 – 14 despite a resisting nine from Iaian Lindley. Also, mid-table, North West Lions won out 24 – 13 against second-bottom Hilton E with nines from Leon Smethurst and Wes Jones.

Way-out Leaders in Division Two, Farnworth Social Circle C came unstuck with their first loss of the season 20 – 16 to Ladybridge B despite Ben Wyatt putting up resistance with a nine. Second-placed Hilton Top Spinners beat mid-table Meadow Ben B 19 – 14 while third-placed Ramsbottom Town D had their third win against Lostock Tennis Club 21 – 11 assisted by nine from Martin Ormsby. Fourth-place Hilton Hawks beat mid-table Farnworth Social Circle B 18 – 12 with Farnworth’s Martyn Garnett putting up nine points resistance.

Farnworth Social Circle D in Division four made it six wins out of seven with a 21 – 15 victory over fourth-placed Albany with nine from Elena Cicilia Tepelus. Second-placed Meadow Ben C kept up the pressure with a 21  15 win against Ladybridge C with nines from Ian Wheeldon and Jack Berry. Third-placed Hilton G capitalised on second-bottom Meadow Hill Tennis Club 27 – 6 with nines from Nathan Donaldson and Malcolm Wilcock. Ninth-placed Hilton H beat their own I team one place above them 18 – 10 despite a resisting nine from Jamie Sutcliffe.
