DIVISIONS Three and Four kicked off last week with two close matches. Division Three’s Walkden Methodists just scraped a 19-17 away win at Farnworth SC C with Carl Bennett winning the maximum nine for the victors.

Meadow BEN C tied with Bolton TTC B 17-17 with Jack Berry taking maximum points for Meadow BEN.

In Division Four, Irlam Steel – with one player a victim of membership renewal failure – went down 19-12 to Meadow BEN D, despite David Yates hitting maximum points for Irlam.

Juniors Hilton J beat Albany 23-11 with Nathan Donaldson on top form for Hilton.

Ladybridge C suffered a 26-9 loss to juniors Hilton I with Steven Gao and Jei Makino Hilton's stars, while a two-man Meadow Hill B team had a baptism of fire, scraping only a couple of games as they went down to Hilton H.

In the Premier Division, Ramsbottom Town A have made a bad start due to a membership renewal failure despite various safeguards being in place.

They played three matches in 11 days. With the first matchcard somewhat late, they played their third match while the match secretary was still finalising the other two results.

The third game saw them lose 19-15 to Radcliffe CC, immediately after which they were informed of the membership renewal failure.

Nomads A also had a close win, 22-16 at Flixton CC B, with Charles Musa and Fredric Turban on top form.

The rest of the games produced more comprehensive wins with Flixton A enjoying a 27-6 win at Wharton, Hilton A winning 24-7 at Coburg A, and Ramsbottom Cricket Club sending out a message with a 27-1 drubbing of Ladybridge A away.

In Division One, there was a close encounter between Little Lever CC B at home to Ramsbottom Town B which the visitors edged 20-18.

Mohammed Sagied and Keith Howarth's string of wins tipped the scales in favour of Ramsbottom.

BRASS A beat a somewhat hybrid Farnworth SC A 24-5 with Michael Brierly and Craig Duncan on maximum form.

Acre Bottom overcame Hilton C 24-9 away with Brain Clements and Martin Holt performing particularly impressively, and Hilton B trounced Meadow BEN A 27-3.

Burning Desire continued their campaign with a 27-4 win against Coburg B.

Under the new scoring system 27 indicates maximum wins for all three players.

In Division Two there were two home derbies, with Heaton B beating their C team 23-13 – Duncan Kay on top form – and Hilton E losing out to their D team 21-10 with Roy Alti and Matthew Fishwick on maximum points.

Meadow BEN B overcame Ladybridge B 23-13 with Mike Heaton doing the honours.
