Bolton News 2nd February - Warburton Cup
  • Last week in a second week of cup matches, saw the conclusion of Round 3 of the Warburton Cup, a cup that involves all divisions of the Bolton League. The quarter finals will take place week commencing 15th February in tandem with the Divisional Cup quarter finals decided the previous week. Players are reminded that after the quarter finals, only those players who have played five or more league matches are eligible to play. If this is not possible then the sporting action is to concede so that valid semi-finals and finals can take place.

Last week Heaton B with 37.5 start overcame Ramsbottom D 376.5-311 and will now be at home to Harper Brass B who made full use of their 107.5 points start to beat Coburg B 406.5-377.

Radcliffe CC had a second close win in two weeks beating Farnworth SC B 399-376.5 despite Farnworth’s 226.5 start. They will now be away to Farnworth SC D who gave Ladybridge C 44.5 points yet pulled off a win 360-337.5.

Farnworth Social Circle A who were due to be away to newcomers White Eagle had a player taken ill at work on the day of the match. It is assumed a reserve player could not be found at such short notice. Unfortunately with only two league weeks between the two rounds, White Eagle have league matches in both weeks on their match night. So this looks like a walk over to White Eagle. They would then be away to either Bolton TTC or Hilton F.

This week sees a return to league matches with the deadline to automatically register new players having closed at the end of January. This hopefully prevents teams from springing surprises in the latter part of the season.
