I attended and passed the UKCC Level 1 coaching course at the end of 2015 and I would urge others to have a go. You don’t have to be a top level player to become a coach or assistant; there were people on the course from a wide range of abilities and ages. The course consists of three full days and home study over a period of about ten weeks. I attended the course at the Keighley Table Tennis Centre. You can find information regarding course content, dates, how to apply, pre-requisites and more on the Coaching section of the Table Tennis England website (http://tabletennisengland.co.uk/organise/coaches/). The remaining courses in the North of England in 2016 are in Manchester (10th September) and Huddersfield (6th November), although others may be added. The cost is £190 plus you must attend a first aid course (approx. £30) and obtain a CRB check (approx. £20). Please get in touch with me if you require further information.
