Club Information and History
The Winchcombe Table Tennis Club was formed in 1974 by the late Sam Ewens, with six teams playing in the Cheltenham Table Tennis Association league.
The season of 2013-4 was another big success for the club as we won the Cheltenham league title in Division One for the third successive year, together with the Division Two title. 2014-5 was another incredibly strong season for the club. We again claimed the Division 1 title along with 2nd place. Our player, Luke Moffat, won the open
During the club's life, many playing successes have been achieved at individual, team and representative level whilst consistently contributing to the management of the of the of the league. Currently this includes the President, two Vice Presidents and the League Treasurer.
The club meets on Thursday nights in the gym at the rear of Winchcombe School, during the playing season between September and March. All members pay an annual subscription that allows them to practice if space permits and also play in a team for Winchcombe in the Cheltenham League.
At the end of the season the club hold a closed tournament open to all members at a small cost, to cover the hire of the hall for the night and trophies.
League matches start at 7.15pm and are finished by 10.30pm if not before, and most players and members then visit the local pub The Harvest Home in Winchcombe to enjoy a drink and chat before heading home
The club has teams in various divisions in the local Cheltenham league all of varying standards and is always looking for new members.
At the present time the club does not have junior training sessions, however, it is recommended that players of junior age contact the Cheltenham Table Tennis Club. Please refer to our links page for their web details.
