This afternoon a carol singer was heard at my doorstep. When I opened the door it was Walter Green carrying a bag of small booklets.

These turned out to be his collection of Wigan League Handbooks going back some 45 years or more.

I have been able to extend our Honours Board on the website back to 1970/71

Walter is missing just two books, those for 1972/73 and 1996/1997. There are still some players around who go back a long way in the League. Witness for example the Division Two singles final in 1970/71 - this was the match which inspired the film Beauty and the Beast!

Please have a look if you have any of the missing books or you are perhaps still in contact with ex players who may have them and let either me or Walter know.
