Division 1 saw Shooting Stars rocket back to the top of the table. This was despite a narrow loss when they hosted Minehead A. Maximums for Toby Kerslake (player of the match) and Joe Camp, plus full points in the doubles gave the visitors the victory. Resistance from Shooting Stars was strong with Robin Arkell scoring 6 points and Martin Shoots 5 points. Geoff Williams managed a further 4 singles points whilst suffering from a sore back. Shooting star’s 4 doubles points gave a creditable final score of 19 points to Minehead’s 27.

Division 2 saw another narrow victory for Mad Batters when they visited Drifters. Matthew Short took player of the match with the only singles maximum of the evening. A further 7 points from Hamish Cuthbertson plus 7 doubles points gave Mad Batters their winning score of 25 points. Drifters gave a steady resistance throughout the match led by Mike Pretty with 8 points and supported by Liz Fletcher with 4 and Andrew Miles Fuller with 3 points. Finishing with an additional 4 doubles points gave Drifters a total score of 19 points.

Roys Boys were on form and on target for a runaway victory against Space invaders. A high score would enable the team to put pressure on the division 2 leaders, Mad Batters. Roys Boys’ progress was halted when sadly Bob Preston had to retire due to injury after scoring 2 singles points. We all wish you a speedy recovery Bob. Barry Hooper gained the only maximum of the evening, earning him player of the match. Roy added a further 8 singles points. Doubles points were maximised from the two games played, giving a total score of 25 points to the Boys. Space Invaders had modest success with Jim Stiles and Margo Baker each winning 3 points, plus a further 3 doubles points. The remaining points were awarded from the conceded games. Overall score for Space invaders amounted to 18 points.
