Tonys Troupers v Space Invaders Score 31-8

It was division 2 that saw all of the action this week.

Barn Boys played their first match of this season away to Mad Batters. Scores

were even in the early stages but Mad Batters eased ahead before closing out

the rest of the match. Matthew Short earned another player of the match award with a

maximum. Hamish Cuthbertson also scored his first maximum of the season, with

Trevor Short adding a further 5 points. Barn Boys put up a good initial fight

and Graham Lamacraft and Steve Palmer added 4 points apiece. Doubles points

were almost evenly shared with Mad Batters edging ahead by 6 points to Barn

Boys' 5. Final score: Mad Batters 26 - Barn Boys 14.

Maximums by both Barry and Roy Hooper spearheaded a convincing performance

against Allsorts, ending with a victory for Roys Boys by 26 points to Allsorts'

17. This match was also evenly poised in the early stages but Roys Boys steadily

pulled ahead throughout the rest of the match with Barry being awarded player

of the match.

Allsorts steady resistance was provided by Andrew Godfrey with

5 points and Barbara Parker and Mike Laurie scoring 4 apiece. Roys Boys also

took the honours in the doubles by 7 points to 4.

Tony's Troopers scored a magnificent 31 points against Space Invaders. Both

Sifa Vea and Kerry Manicom scored maximums with Tony Burrows adding a further

6 points. The match started strongly for Space invaders with Margo Baker

winning the first game, and all 4 of the team's singles points were won in the

first two games. A further 4 doubles points were added to take Invaders total

score to 8 points. Troopers' doubles tally of 7 points demonstrated their

dominance in the match.

Final score: Tonys Troupers 31 - Space Invaders 8,

with Sifa Vea being awarded player of the match.

Division 1 saw no change in team positions. There were no challengers to prevent

Shooting Stars from retaining top spot for another week.
