John Edbrooke and David Woodland both achieved maximums for Wiveliscombe as they defeated Gnomads 31-9. Nigel Foster, Martin Rant and Eddie Ferris each took one singles for Gnomads.
Despite a man of the match performance from Mervyn Hillier who recorded the only maximum of the night, Stogumber A slipped to a 26-22 defeat at Basement Dwellers. In a great team performance Vince Court and Rod Richards scored 7 & 8 singles points respectively. Paul Rees teamed up with Court to take the final doubles 3-0 giving Dwellers their victory.
Mad Batters and Roys Boys played out the first draw of the season. On a night of no maximums Matthew Short top scored for Mad Batters with 7 singles points. Barry Hooper took 7 points and Bob Preston made a valuable contribution for Roys Boys adding 4 singles and 3 doubles points to their total.
In the Junior League Kestrels won a closely fought match against Swifts by a single point. Ryan Graddon scored a maximum for Kestrels but was forced to 5 sets by Kyla Stothard. Jess Westcott teamed up with Graddon to win the doubles 3-0. Curtis Beynon-Pearce won the final singles of the night by 3 sets to 0 – to keep the scoreline close.
