End of the road for England at Spanish Open

The three remaining English players were knocked out of the Spanish Open today, all losing to higher-ranked opponents.

Kelly Sibley put up the best show, taking world No 41 Maki Shiomi of Japan to 15-13 in each of the frst two sets and to deuce in the fourth as well, before exiting 4-0.

McBeath was beaten in four sets by Park Ganghyeon of South Korea, ranked 139, while Savill lost in four straight to Ng Pak Nam of Hong Kong, the world No 125.

The other English players in action in Almeria had been knocked out in the qualifying rounds.
