Higham Harriers 7 v Wanderers D 3
The Harriers finally chalked up their first win of the season with this good 7-3 victory over bottom club Wanderers D. Oli and Katie Hicks both carded good doubles for the victors and Craig Hartwell, making a welcome return after a long absence, added a further 2 wins. Graham Babbage hit back for the Wanderers with a good double of his own and Mike Howorth added a further single win. Katie Hicks & Hartwell wound up the evening with a straight sets doubles victory over Babbage & Roger Ellingham.
Westfield B 2 v Old Grammarians A 8
The O.G.s move back into 3rd place in the league with this good 8-2 away victory against Westfield B. Mick Ball and Martyn Reeves both fired great maximums to go with Phil Laurence's single win, whilst Steve Fuller and Tim Mason both carded single wins for Westfield. Laurence & Reeves finally gained the O.G.s 8th point with a 4 set doubles victory over Fuller & Mason.
Higham Band A 7 v Wanderers C 3
Perce Sharp hit a great maximum for the home team without conceding a single set and was well supported with Nigel Magee's double and Steve Mansfield's single. Maurice Jones, James Findlay and Carl Singh all carded single wins for the visitors before Magee & Sharp secured the Band Club's 7th point with a five set doubles victory against Findlay & Singh.
Old Grammarians C 7 v Wanderers E 3
Old Gramms move into 2nd place after Alan Hill and Dave Hatherall both scored hat tricks and Roger Fleming weighed in with 1 point. He lost his points against David May in 5 ends and Derek Shears in a close 3 end match. Wanderers other player Steve Hoole, although scoreless, took Hill to 5 end and against Fleming, one end resulted in a 15-17 score. The doubles point was won by Shears/May in 5 ends to claw back a point.
WDHA Challengers B 8 v WDHA Raj Riders C 2
An in house contest saw the B side increase their lead by 2 points. With only 2 players the lower side was always going to struggle, but Paresh Shah took on Hubert Malenda and won 11-9, 10-12, 14-12, and 11-7. He then went on to beat Kavish Dodhia 14-12 in the 4th end. Daniel Bain did stop him 6-11, 12-10, 11-13, 15-13, and 11-7 in an exciting set. All other points went to the B side, including the final doubles point in an easy 3 ender.
Old Grammarians B 6 v Westfield C 4
All Old Gramms players won 2 points apiece and all losing to Westfield’s Stuart Holroyd, who has lost only 2points up to date. Both Colin Lord and David Bayes needed 4 ends to defeat both Jay Rogers and Asish Nandi, but Paul Lipczak, playing for the first time for their B side, won in 3 ends each. Bayes/Lipczak lost the doubles to Holroyd/Nandi combo surprisingly in 3 ends 8-11, 6-11, and 4-11.
Chesterwell D 8 v Westfield D 2
Although with this good score, Chesterwell are still in the same position as last week and just 6 points away from top spot. Duncan Wright and Caspian Wagner both scored hat tricks. The closest set came from Roy Smyth for Westfield going down 11-13, 11-6, 9-11, and 11-13. Gordon Campbell won his only point from Eleanor Smyth taking her in 4 ends. Wagner/ Wright took the doubles in 3 easy ends.
