Westfield B 0 v WDHA Royals 10
Westfield B went down to their 3rd consecutive 10-0 defeat and apart from one treble by Mike Ainsworth look out of their depth. The visitors’ trio of Abin Islam, Nitin Patel and Shyam Bavalia won out 9 of the 10 matches without losing a leg. However, game 8 saw Charlie Clements put in a gutsy performance before going down 12-10, 7-11, 11-7, 8-11, 7-11 to Islam.
WDHA Royals 6 v Westfield A 4
For once Kevin Birds team mates did not come up to scratch and despite his almost inevitable treble, the visitors went down to their first defeat of the season. Travis Holly and Patryk Polanski failed to register and none of their matches went to five. For the hosts, Mike Hawes, made a welcome return to the Wellingborough League and although well beaten by Bird, comfortably saw off his team mates. Abin Islam and Virat Patel continued their good season with braces but went down 6-11, 11-9, 6-11, 8-11 to Bird and Holly in the doubles.
St John B 8 v Westfield B 2
Against one of the two sides they could expect some points against, the visitors duly avoided a whitewash, gaining 2 points. Piotr Polanski, the seventh player fielded to date gained a 11-9, 9-11, 13-11, 11-6 win over David Hatherall, who in a disappointing display also went down to Mark Thomas 5-11, 11-9, 5-11, 5-11. For the hosts, Paul Lipczak had a night to remember breaking a 4 match losing streak with a treble. Mike Terry followed suit although Polanski easily the best of the visitors took him to five before losing out 11-7, 3-11, 4-11, 11-9, 5-11.
Higham Harriers A 5 v St John A 5
The hosts are no longer a soft touch without Ian Bird and earned a hard fought draw against St John A. Grant Timms who goes from strength to strength, gained a superb treble, highlight being 11-6, 9-11, 11-4, 11-6 win over Steve Kendall, however, this was negated by Jon Perkins gaining his 4th blank in 5 outings. Richard Wills gained the 4th point seeing off Graham Bird 6-11, 13-11, 11-9, 11-8 and the visitors gained a creditable draw when Perkins gained some consolation joining Timms for a five set doubles win 11-4, 16-18, 6-11, 6-11, 11-7 over Kendall and Norman Wooster.
Old Grammarians A 8 v Westfield C 2
Mick Ball’s 4th maximum of the season, added to doubles from Phil Laurence and Martyn Reeves sees the O.G.s climb up to equal 2nd place in the league. Mark Ramsden and Tim Mason scored single wins for the visitors before Laurence & Ball took the doubles in a close 5 setter to earn their team’s 8th point of the night.
WDHA Superkings 9 v Wanderers C 1
This resounding home win for the Superkings sees them also move up to equal 2nd place in the league, thanks to fine maximums from Jack Bain and Dev Patel, ably supported with a good double from Tarun Mistry. James Findlay salvaged the visitors only point with a straight sets victory over Mistry before Bain & Mistry completed their team’s 9 point haul with a 5 set doubles victory over Findlay & Carl Singh.
Chesterwell C 8 v Higham Harriers B 2
Daniel Mann’s 4th maximum of the season, together with Jonathan Driscoll’s first sees Chesterwell move up one position in the league with a solid 8-2 victory over bottom club Harriers B. Duncan Wright finally opened his account with a single win to add to his team-mates’ trebles whilst Bob Collyer and Phil Inman both scored single wins for the visitors. Driscoll & Mann rounded off the evening with a doubles victory against Inman & Neil Stevens to gain what was somewhat surprisingly Chesterwell’s first team victory of the season.
Higham Band A 4 v Chesterwell B 6
Stuart Coles’ first two wins of the season, together with Luke Hughes’ 5th maximum and a single win from John Henderson saw Chesterwell edge out the Band Club in a tight 6-4 away victory. Pete Martin carded a good double for the hosts with Perce Sharp adding a single and the two of them later combined to take the doubles against Hughes & Henderson in 4 sets.
Wanderers D 9 v Higham Band B 1
Fielding their strongest side Higham Band B could only muster a single points against ast seasons relegated team Wanderers D. Roger Ellingham and Graham Babbage scored hat tricks and Mike Howorth supported well with 2 points, losing out to Deirdre Kiziak 9-11 in the 4th. Kiziak took Babbage to five ends, bowing out 1-11 in the final game with Wanderers adding the final doubles point 11-9 in the 4th end.
Higham Harriers C 9 v Westfield E 1
Harriers are upping their game week by week and had to fight hard for their points. Oli Hicks and Kate Hicks came away with hat tricks whilst brother Matt registered 2 wins, losing out to Ashley Pedlar 7-11, 11-9, 9-11, 5-11. Pedlar took Oli to five losing out 11-13, 11-1, 4-11, 11-8, 13-11 and Stuart Rae had two five set matches losing out 11-8 and 12-10 to Oli and Kate respectively.
Matt and Kate Hicks added the doubles 11-5, 8-11, 11-5, 11-5 for the final point.
WDHA Rising Stars 0 v WDHA Challengers 10
A good win puts the Challengers into second place in this in-house match. Kishan Mistry, Hubert Malenda and Rishan Ganatra all register their second hat tricks of the season. Again there were some close calls, Rishan had to pull through two 5 end games to win 11-9 in both against Akash Kumar and Aum Lakhani giving Rising Stars hope for the future.
Westfield D 6 v Old Grammarians B 4
A shock defeat for Old Grammarians B puts Westfield D in contention for the runner-up spot. Stuart Rae, losing all sets in his lower side game against the same opposition, stepped up to gain two good wins against higher ranked opponents. Amrat Mistry won his 5th hat trick of the season taking the scalp of Colin Lord 12-10 in the 4th. Old Grammarians pulled back with a 4 end doubles win to lessen the blow.
wanderers E 10 v Chesterwell D 0
Chesterwell D still struggling to find 3 players on a regular basis were overwhelmed by Wanderers E. David May, Steve Hoole and Derek Shears winning all available points and this result puts them back in mid table.
