Les Constable's report on the season
New Chesterton Institute won all their games and had a six point lead over
the runners-up Wesley who just pipped YMCA I by two points for second place.
St Georges I and RAF Oakington were demoted. Fire Brigade topped Division 2
also without the loss of a match and finished six points in front of
Impington with RAF Duxford in third position. Gas Board and College Servants
were the unfortunate teams to be relegated with both on four points.
Telephones II just pipped United Hospitals I in the third division by two
points and Kerridges and Gas Board II were in the bottom positions.
Two RAF teams headed Division 4 - RAF Association and RAF Bassingbourn I
with the former team winning all their games and gaining a six point lead
over Bassingbourn. Gas Board III were bottom in this division which meant
that all the Gas Boards were relegated - a unique situation! United Hospitals
II headed Division 5 with a ten point lead over RAF Bassingbourn II, the
former team losing only one game. Pest Control were wooden-spoonists with
just four points.
