Cambridge & District TTL 1945-1946

Les Constable's report on the season

In this the first season after the war Trinity College won the first division with their team of Teltscher, Pryor and King. They had several close calls when they played Wesley, YMCA and Newnham who they beat by the odd game in nine. For Trinity, Teltscher was a dour player as I found out to my cost and beat Norman Brand, Tony Starts (incidentally a County tennis player) of Newnham and George Lawrence of Wesley but lost to Bill Humphries and Les Stearn of YMCA and Corporal Etheridge of RAF Waterbeach - his only loses throughout the season. The only team Trinity lost to was RAF Waterbeach who beat them by the odd game in nine. In this match all three players lost to Etheridge and Pryor and King lost to Pink - a good performance by the Airmen! YMCA were runners-up to Trinity who stopped the YMCA monopoly although the latter team had lost the services of Edwards and Barrer.

Trinity College A also won the second division so that this College was healthy with young student players.
