Good start to league campaign for the Thornbury teams

After a long summer, the Stroud league season started up again on Monday 19th September. All of the Thornbury teams made a good start to their campaigns, with 5 wins out of 6 matches.

  • A team started the defence of their Division One crown with two 7-3 victories, over Yate and Woodchester B. All 6 squad members took part over the two games with Dave, Anthony and Julz remaining unbeaten.
  • B team made up of Gavin, Mark and Simon came out on top against Nailsworth A, winning 7-3.
  • C team (Team Rubbish) cruised to an 8-2 home victory over Pheonix D with Stephen and Viv remaining unbeaten.
  • D team, in their first ever competitive league match, came away with a very commendable 6-4 defeat against Nailsworth B. Rob Gumbrell was top performer on the night winning 2 out of 3 singles matches. We hope that most importantly, our newbies enjoyed the experience and we look forward to your first match win in the near future!

Finally, our new Bristol league team (C) made their debut, winning their Mordecai handicap cup match against Fromeside B by 40 points. We think we have a strong squad for the forthcoming Division 2 campaign, so watch this space!
