There were some exciting matches in the Tamworth League in the run up to Christmas. Division 1 saw a 10 - 0 victory for Curdworth Wheelers Pingers over Lichfield Kings and Queens. Dawn Sagoo, Rob Rowson and Rob Sheldon won all their own matches & the doubles.
At Netherseal Sports and social Club, Netherseales had a narrow victory over Tamworth Youth Club Wiff Waffs. The 6 - 4 result saw Jody Bevington for The Wiff Waffs take Man Of The Match and won his three games, this was backed up by a single win for Alan Caffrey. The winning Netherseales claimed the doubles & Simon Hall and Andy Rose won two games a piece with Danny Sullivan adding a single game.
In division 2, there were four matches. Top of the table Lichfield Jets beat Lichfield Knaves 7 - 3. For the Jets Gary Dawson scored a maximum three points, with Jack Gillespie adding two more and Harry Emberson adding a further one. In return Morgan Sykes. Yuri Slobodyuk and Neil Lehane won one game each for The Knaves.
Netherseal Oak had an 8 - 2 win over Hopwas B, with both Pete Jamieson and Brian Hagger scoring a maximum three games. Dave Tucker rescued one point for Hopwas B and with the help of Bill Lakin secured a straight set win in the doubles match.
Spital daredevils had a narrow 6 - 4 win against Curdworth Wheelers Pongers. Alan Baker won all three of his games despite a last game five set battle with Rich Grove. who had won his other two games for The Pongers. Stuart Spalding and Paul Bowler helped Baker by winning one game each to secure Spital's win.
Also there was a 7 - 3 victory for Hopwas A, who beat the two man team of Tamworth Rugby Club Kings. Vincent Vidal beat both of his opponents for Hopwas and Alistair Tallis won one plus the doubles when paired up with Martin Tallis.
Division 3 leaders Tamworth Rugby Club Oddballs increased their advantage by taking on the Junior Team of Tamworth Youth Club Talentz. The 8 - 2 result was due to a maximum three wins for Dave Storr and two more games each for Kevin Wright & Ron Simpson. David Bree and Hayden Wooton claimed the two points for Talentz.
A final match saw Netherseal Ash triumph 8 - 2 over Tamworth Youth Club Lambs. Netherseal players George Parry and Graham Clarke played well to claim three points each, John Pope added one the final score. Rob Shaw and James Shaw fought back to get the two points for The Lambs.
