Division One

 Second place Wilnecote Raiders kept the pressure on leaders
 TYC Retros in the Tamworth Table Tennis Division One thanks to a comfortable
9-1 away victory over TYC Wanderers. Andy Bache and Ryan Birbeck both scored
trebles for Raiders with John Birbeck hitting two in support. A Matt Satchwell
single for Wanderers prevented the whitewash. Third placed side Curdworth
Pingers also secured a 9-1 win, this time over Lichfield Jets. Dawn Sagoo and
Phil Burwell were star players for Pingers with maximums and Tony Stewart added
a brace. Gary Dawson scored once in reply for the Jets. Aubrey Henry led from
the front winning all his matches in Netherseal Cedars 8-2 triumph over Rugby
Kings ably supported by Ian Perry and Garry Carr who both scored twice.
Johnathan Pilling played well for the Kings with two wins. Two player Kingsbury
Tornadoes emerged with a share of the spoils in their 5-5 draw with Lichfield
Kings & Queens thanks to the sterling efforts of Dave Morrell and Karl
Oliver who both scored pairs and combined to take the doubles in five. Clive
Merriman was the key player for Kings & Queens remaining unbeaten on the

Division Two

Spital Daredevils extended their lead at the top of Division
Two thanks to a 9-1 win over two player Rugby Oddballs. Alan Baker and Paul
Bowler won all their matches with Stuart Spalding scoring one from open play.
Dave Storr played really well for his point for Oddballs winning 11-8 in the
fifth. Netherseal Oak emerged 6-4 victors in a close match with Lichfield
Knaves. Brian Hagger’s treble helping Oak’s cause no end. Brian’s team members Mike
Harker scored twice and Andy Pearce took a single. Knaves’ points came courtesy
of a well-crafted double from Morgan Sykes who went on to take the doubles with
Dan Greathead in five. Neil Lehane chipped in with a single. Pairs from Pete
Bromley and Rich Grove were not enough to prevent Curdworth Pongers slipping to
a narrow 6-4 loss at home to Jokers A. Alastair Tallis helped put a smile on
Jokers faces with a hat-trick as well as taking the doubles with Martin Tallis
in three. Martin added a further single as did Bill Lakin. Jokers B meanwhile won
their contest with Lichfield Musketeers 9-1. Richard Howes and Chris Latham
proved too strong for the Musketeers winning all their games with Colin
Cartwright adding two. Yuri Slobodyuk provided some resistance from the
Musketeers winning one of his matches. The match was a lot closer than the
score-line suggests.

Division Three

In Division Three Netherseal Ash romped to a 9-1 home win
over two-player Kingsbury Cruisers. George Parry and Mick Sherratt won all
their matches from open play with Graham Clarke narrowly losing out to Ron
Simpson 11-5 in the fifth. A James Shaw maximum helped his side TYC Lambs edge
a 6-4 win over Kingsbury Crowns. Rich Elson helped out with two and Rob Shaw
one. Andy Brown was star performer for Crowns with two and won the doubles
combining with John Lowe. John added a further point. Three from John Brookes
and a pair from Ian Sketchley were not enough to secure the win for Spital
Mondays in their 5-5 stalemate with Lichfield Barons. The match could have been
won by either side as it was a really close affair. Pete Collins scored twice
for Barons and took the doubles 12-10 in the fifth with Barbara Jones. Barbara
added a further single as did Karl Turner.
