Division One

TYC Retros showed why they are the team to beat at the top
of Tamworth Table Tennis Division One this week thumping third placed Curdworth
Pingers 9-1. Jody Bevington and Michael Bree emerged from yet another contest
with their 100% record intact. Andy Jackson too was in impressive form scoring
twice and narrowly losing out to Rob Sheldon whose win thereby prevented the
whitewash. Challengers Wilnecote Raiders were also in fine form away to
Kingsbury Tornadoes winning 9-1. Andy Bache and Ryan Birbeck both took trebles
with John Birbeck adding two. Dave Morrell played really well clawing a point
back for Tornadoes. TYC Wanderers emerged victorious away to Netherseal Cedar
7-3. Brian Beer was star performer for Wanderers winning all his matches and
taking the doubles in three with Liz Merrick. Liz went on to take a further
single. Andy Walker also contributed two points to his side’s tally. In reply
Ian Perry hit two for Cedar and Gary Carr scored once. Two-player Netherseal
won through 7-3 away to Lichfield Jets despite some close contests on the
night. Andy Rose and Danny Sullivan scored maximums for Netherseal and took the
doubles in four. A well taken treble by Clive Merriman and two-points-a-piece
for Dave Knight and Di St Leger resulted in Lichfield Kings & Queens
winning their tussle with Rugby Kings 7-3. Two from Johnathan Pilling ensured a
less than smooth win for the Lichfield side as Johnathan batted well to also
win the doubles with Dean Snowden in five.

Division Two

In Division Two leaders Spital Daredevils won their tie away
to Curdworth Pongers 6-4 thanks to hat-tricks from Paul Bowler and Stuart
Spalding. Nick Bromley, Rich Grove and Pete Bromley all scored once in response
for Pongers with Pete and Rich combining to secure the doubles in four.
Maximums from Chris Latham and Richard Hawes and a Chris/Richard doubles
triumph 12-10 in the fifth ensured a 7-3 victory for Jokers B over Lichfield
Knaves. Morgan Sykes, Dan Greathead and Neil Lehane scored a point-a-piece for Knaves.

Division Three

In Division Three fine undefeated performances from George
Parry and Graham Clarke gave victory to Netherseal Ash 7-3 away to Spital
Mondays. Graham also took the doubles in four with John Pope. Ian Sketchley,
John Brookes and Paul Watkins each won a single for Mondays. The Kingsbury
derby ended in a 9-1 win for Cruisers over Crowns. Isobel Morrell and Steve
Gardner were in devastating form for Cruisers winning all their matches and Ron
Simpson scored a pair. John Lowe took the point for Crowns in what could only
be described as a five set marathon. Lichfield Barons match with TYC Futures
ended honours even, 5-5 despite a Sam Bernstein maximum and singles from Zorro
Kasarge and Ryan Coady. Karl Turner and Barbara Jones both scored twice and
combined to win the doubles for Barons to earn the draw. Zoran was star player
for Lichfield Rockets with three well taken singles wins and a doubles triumph
with Rebecca Davis as his side narrowly edged a 6-4 away win over TYC Lambs.
Claire Sykes was also on target for the Rockets with two. Lambs points came
courtesy of a James Shaw brace and singles from Rob Shaw and Rich Elson.
