Division One

Wilnecote Raiders continued their dominance in League
Division One of the Tamworth Table Tennis league with a resounding 9-1 win over
Kingsbury Tornadoes. Only Dave Morrell for Tornadoes could prevent Raiders
achieving the whitewash with a singles win. Steve Atkinson and Ryan Birbeck
were maximum men for Raiders with Andy Bache scoring twice. Elsewhere TYC
Retros had an impressive 9-1 away triumph over Curdworth Pingers. Jodie
Bevington and Michael Bree remained undefeated for the Retros with Andy Jackson
adding a brace. Rob Sheldon rescued a point for Pingers. Netherseal completed
the hat-trick of 9-1 results in Division One this week shooting down Lichfield
Jets. Danny Sullivan and Andrew Rose remained undefeated on the night for
Netherseals and Jason Hadley added two. Harry Emberson played extremely well
for his 11-9 win in the fifth to ensure the Jets came away with something for
their efforts on the night. Matt Satchwell led the line for TYC Wanderers with
a treble in their 8-2 win over Netherseal Cedar despite a fine double for
Cedar’s Ian Perry. Steve Smith and Brian Beer contributed two singles wins each
for Wanderers. It finished honours even as Lichfield Kings and Queens drew 5-5
with Rugby Kings. Di St Ledger was star player on the night for the Lichfield
side notching up three singles wins ably supported by David Knight and Varya
Meridith with a point-a-piece. Johnathan Pilling and Dean Snowden were on
target with pairs for Rugby Kings with Johnathan and Dean combining to secure
the doubles in a tense 12-10 triumph in the fifth.

Division Two

Runaway leaders in Division Two, Spital Daredevils continued
their impressive form with a 9-1 victory over Lichfield Musketeers. Paul Bowler
and Alan Baker both hit trebles for Daredevils with Stuart Spalding scoring
twice. Yuri Slobodyuk clawed back a point for Musketeers. Second placed Jokers
A maintained their momentum for a top two finish with an 8-2 home win over
Lichfield Knaves. Alastair and Martin Tallis were both on target for Jokers
with three and Bill Lakin contributed a point. Morgan Sykes and Dan Greathead
took a point-a-piece in reply for the Knaves. The Jokers other team Jokers B
suffered an 8-2 reversal away to Netherseal Oak despite a pair from Chris
Latham. Mike Harker was in fine form with a treble for Oak assisted by Brian
Hagger and Graham Kettle who both took two. A Dave Storr maximum helped to give
Rugby Oddballs a share of the spoils in their contest with Curdworth Pongers
which finished 5-5. Kevin Wright and Keith Pratt chipped in with a
point-a-piece in support. Pongers’ points came courtesy of two wins each for
Rich Grove and Pete Bromley who also combined to take the doubles in three.

Division Three

Top of the table Netherseal Ash continue to shine in
Division Three with a solid 8-2 victory away to TYC Future. Graham Clarke and
George Parry both hit trebles on the night with John Pope scoring once. Aimee
Evans and Zorro Kasarge each won once for Future. Lichfield Barrons proved too
strong for TYC Lambs securing the tie 8-2. John Henson won all his games on the
night with Anand Kaila and Barbara Jones helping out with two points each.
James and Rob Shaw both took a point in response for Lambs. Despite being a
player down on the night a fine performance by Andy Brown helped Kingsbury
Crowns to a draw with Lichfield Rockets. Steve Allen added one and went on to
win the doubles with Andy in four. Rockets points came courtesy of two from
Chris Davis and Steve Thomas and a point from Rebecca Davis. The Kingsbury
Cruisers match with Spital Mondays finished in a 5-5 stalemate despite a superb
maximum from John Brookes for the Mondays. John went on to win the doubles with
Ian Sketchley with Ian adding a further single. Steve Gardner and Isobel
Morrell scored twice each in reply for the Cruisers with John Howell chipping
in with a point.
