Match Report

Well, East Boldon A have made it - just. Needing just 6 points from our last 2 matches we finally managed to scrape 9 points making us unable to be caught at the top in Division 2.Last night's match against West was played in a friendly, sporting manner with many wonderful shots and rallies enjoyed by the large crowd attending. Special mention for Alan who was coaching James and Freddie just a few years ago at The Beacon. He must be thrilled  to see how accomplished players they are now. Long may he continue to reign. James and Freddie both enjoyed this opportunity to compete with Alan . William Walton

West CAC welcomed the top team in the league, East Boldon A led by Jolley James Booth, the more intense Freddie Wrintmore, the older one Jon Evans, and Will McCallum , and the Boldon team only required 2 points to win the Division.

Michael, the Yorkshire Terrier played Freddie and lost 3 games to 1, this was followed by Jolley James showing his class beat the Old Wino Whitwham in 3 ends, thus promotion was achieved, well done that team.

The match wasn’t finished when up stepped Chainsaw Kelly, the smiling assassin who overcame Jon in 4 ends, then Wino lost to Freddie in 3 ends to make it 3-1 to East Boldon.

West made a comeback when the Terrier and Chainsaw saw off James and Will in the doubles, but Jon was unable to take part as he had injured his shoulder ice skating with his daughter, so had to concede his last 2 sets.

Jolley James defeated Chainsaw 3-0, but the smiling assassin played the next match against Freddie. It was a good game, which Declan won 11-8 in the 5th end, well done Chainsaw. The last match of the night saw the Yorkshire Terrier play some terrific shots to win against James, who played very well, but lost 11-7 in the 5th end, this made the score 6-4 to West CAC.

The match as always between the 2 teams was played in good spirts and a very good number of away supporters turned up to see their team win the league, so well played all season, you deserved to win the title.

What can I say about the West team, who only had 2 fit players for most of the season.  Michael and Declan have played well all season and I’m  proud of the way they played.

The Player of the Match, this could go to James or Declan, so I would give to both, well played lads.

As this is the last report of the season, I would like to thank all of those who read my reports and said they like what I try to say and with a bit of humour.

Thanks to all the teams and all the players it’s been a pleasure to take part, and thanks to all the people who organise league and the teams, you do a very good job.

Finally, to my wife Margaret who checks my reports and translates them into English so you all can understand what I am writing.

Gan Canny,

Alan, proud of my players, Whitwham,

P.S. I forgot to mention East Boldon beat West 10-0 in the 1st half of the season.
