Welcome to all old teams back for the new season and greetings to the new teams who have joined the league and I hope they will enjoy playing table tennis as I do.

The 1^st of the Brandon sides to visit West CAC in the City of Sunderland were The Crusaders led by Alan Perry, Brian Childs, and John Bainbridge, for whom this is his 1^st time at West.

For the home side were Declan Kelly, Michael Hepworth and Howard Forster, and the match started when Chainsaw Kelly in a hard-fought game with Alan won 15-13 in the 5^th end. In the next match John proved too good against Howard, The Silver Fox, and won in 4 ends, then Michael, The Yorkshire Terrier, saw off Brian in 3 straight games. Alan then won against the Silver Fox and then teamed up with John in the doubles to overcome Chainsaw Kelly and Alan Whitwham, yes, I’m still here, in a very good game which went to 5 ends.

The next 2 sets went to West putting them 4-3 up, the Crusaders fought back to win the last 3 sets to gave them victory by 6-4 and this match was very good to watch and to play in.

There could have been 4 Player of the Match because Chainsaw, Yorkshire Terrier, Alan, and John all won 2 sets, but it went to John, so well played that man.

I must give praise to Alan to was unlucky to lose to Chainsaw in the 1^st game of the night and well played Chainsaw Kelly who won 2 sets in his 1^st game in division two.

This match was played in good spirit and some goods shots played by all the players, so well done to both teams.
