Magic v Backspin C

Magic had to draft in relative newcomer Vince Sanderson to join Luke Dumighan and Peter Whitfield as one of their regulars Ross Clennell was diagnosed with Covid. Backpsin C had regulars Graham Burton, Ken Greatbatch and Robert Cook.

The result was never going to go Backspins way, as the tone was set in the first game with Luke managing more than his share of nets and edges to edge out Ken. The second game was Peter v Robert and the same ratio of luck didn’t allow Robert to get into the game. This continued through the game with crucial points going to Magic at the right time.

The best game of the night was the doubles where it was 2-2 going into the final end and Backspin were 8 - 4 up but they couldn’t find the elusive points they needed and Magic  won 11-8.

 Irrespective of the result(10-0 to Magic), the match was played in an incredible atmosphere with no histrionics or shouting which wasn’t the case on the next table where there was another game between a Durham team and a Backspin team.
