Match Report

The long-awaited local derby between West CAC whose team was Michael Hepworth, Malcolm Deneven and the ever-popular Alan Whitwham and their opponents West CAB lead by the ever-green Frank Booth supported by Dave Thomson and Dave, the demon, Barber and as you would expect the sell out crowd were all behind the home team. The 1st set was between Dave T and Malcolm with Dave winning over 4 ends, then came the game between the two strongest players Alan and Frank, who played some great shots to beat Alan 3 straight ends. Michael played Dave B in a great game which could have gone either way, but Dave took the 5th end 11-6. After that Dave T beat Alan in a hard-fought set in 3 ends.

The match of the night came when Alan and Malcolm took on Frank and Dave T who took the first 2 ends, but the C team pair came back the next 3 ends to record a good win, after that Frank had to retire hurt and didn’t take part in the rest of the match, it was a great shame. This was a hard game that you expect in a derby, but Player of the Match was Dave Barber who won 3 sets, so well played Dave and much deserved.

Just one final word Alan proved to Frank that on the night he was the strongest player and a word of warning to Frank don’t try to play Alan twice in a night your body cannot take the punishment at your age.

Gan Canny,

Alan, the strongest, Whitwham
