Match Report

The 2nd half of the season started with a shock for West CAC when Alan Whitwham was dropped to the subs bench and the hopes rested on Michael Hepworth, Magic Mick Redfearn and all the way from Batley playing his 1st game in a league we welcome Imran Mohammed to our league. The Durham City Scorpions was Ian McPherson, Duncan Hindmarch and the ever-delightful Harry Veitch who was pleased to find out that his nemesis Alan was not playing.

The match started with Michael’s hard battle with Duncan which went to 4 ends with Scorpion player winning through with some good backhand shots, then Imran had a daunting task when he played the wonderful Harry and he lost 11-2 in the 1st end but gained a bit of pride with gaining 8 and 7 in the next 2ends, so a good effort Imran. Magic Mick lost in 4 ends to Ian and was unlucky not to go to a 5th game and Imran played well to take an end off Duncan so much improved. At 4-0 down the home crowd was getting upset and so to appease them Alan stepped into the breach with Mick in the doubles against Duncan and the talented Harry and as everyone expected Alan failed once again but the West pair did win 1 end, so now all hope had disappeared and so west lost 10-0 despite Michael trying to spoil it by taking Ian to 5 ends.

Player of the Match was Harry Veitch so well played and a very good egg Harry.

We now regroup and travel to St. Gabs for our next match with hope in our hearts and pain in our heads.
