When the top two teams in the division clashed on Wednesday, it was the league leaders and the home side Thornbury A, who came out on top beating Forest Green A 6-4. Dave Reeves was man of the match as he finished with a max for the home side. Phoenix A did their hopes of a top four finish a power of good when they beat their Woodchester B hosts 7-3, Dave Hadley was man of the match returning a maximum for the visitors.
Champions elect, Randwick A, made light work of their B team club mates beating them 9-1 showing the gulf in difference between the top and the bottom of the division. George Evans and Steve Charlwood each finished with maximums. Forest Green B entertained second placed Thornbury B but couldn’t prevent the visitors recording a 7-3 victory with Gavin Rogers scoring a max and finishing as man of the match. A Mike Davis hat trick helped his Phoenix C side to a 9-1 victory against the visiting Cam A, Mike was ably assisted by Sally Jones who also recorded a max to keep Phoenix in the top half of the table.
Phoenix E earned five vital points, against a two player Woodchester C, in their attempt to avoid relegation. Roger Davis for the visitors scored a max and finished as man of the match. Phoenix D went down 3-7 at home to Woodchester C, for whom Barry Morgan scored a max to finish as man of the match. In a battle for points at the bottom of the division it was the visiting Randwick C who came out on top when they defeated their Cam B hosts 7-3. Roger Dickenson was man of the match as he scored a max for the Randwick team. Thornbury C gave the young Phoenix F team a run for their money but couldn’t prevent the visitors from coming away with a 6-4 victory. Sam McIvor maintained his good form, finishing with a max for the visiting Phoenix. Thornbury C completed their season the following night when they visited Randwick D, Jim Hurford was man of the match for the hosts returning a maximum in a 7-3 win.
Phoenix H went down 4-6 at home to Nailsworth B for whom Alun Davies was man of the match as he scored a max. Nailsworth C couldn’t contain a strong Cam C performance as the visitors recorded an 8-2 victory thanks to maximums from Nigel Meredith and George Thomas. Thornbury D were white washed on their visit to Frampton D as Brian Cullis, Len Agg and Peter Seville were all unbeaten. Fred Donald and Fadi Dahdouh each produced a maximum for Phoenix G when they visited Randwick E which enabled the Phoenix team to leave with an 8-2 victory.
