Thornbury A are champions of division one, and just to make sure they won 9-1 at Cirencester with Len Vowles and Julian Elisbury each scoring maximums. Phoenix A lost 4-6 at home to two player Forest Green A for whom Ben Glover was man of the match with a max. Frampton B lost at “home” to their A team club mates who could only field two players. Bob Murray scored three singles wins for the A team.
Although not playing this week, Nailsworth Phoenix C are champions of division two. Craig Smart was man of the match, scoring three singles wins for Forest Green B, but couldn’t prevent them losing 4-6 at home to Randwick A.
Nailsworth Phoenix D are champions of division three and celebrated by beating the visiting Woodchester D 9-1 thanks to maximums from Craig Mills and Bruce Ind. Thornbury C remain in second place despite losing 7-3 away to Whiteshill C, Viv Wilkie was unbeaten for the visitors. No one player could dominate as Phoenix E defeated Phoenix F 6-4. Marcus Holba was man of the match as he scored a maximum for Randwick B as they defeated their hosts, Forest Green C who could only field two players.
The division four title is still up for grabs going into the last week of the season. Phoenix G have taken an early advantage by beating their I team club mates 9-1, Chris Hampton and Cliff Jordan each returned a maximum. A weakened Randwick D lost at home to Cam B handing their guests a huge advantage at the top of the division. Tony Averis scored a maximum for the visitors as Cam won 8-2. Randwick E had maximums from Tom Gill and Tirian Jakes to thank for a 7-3 victory over the visiting Frampton D. Phoenix H lost 4-6 at home to the visiting Cam C but no one player could dominate. Phoenix “J”uniors had a comfortable 9-1 victory over local rivals Forest Green D with Sam McIvor and Charlie Cole scoring maximums.
