Thornbury A took a huge step towards winning the league title when they came away from Phoenix B with all ten points. Dave Reeves, Emily Standing and Anthony Kent all went unbeaten for the visitors. Andy Cox and Dave Hope each recorded a maximum for Yate as their two players left Phoenix A with a 6-4 win under their belts.
The teams could not be separated by the score in this top of the table clash at Thornbury B, the points were shared at five apiece with Phoenix C. Mark Attwood was man of the match, scoring a maximum for the home team.
Phoenix D increased their lead at the top of the division as their nearest challengers had the week off. Joe Sheppard, Andy Hammond and Craig Mills each scored a maximum as they beat the visiting Randwick C 10-0. Whiteshill C narrowly defeated the visiting Randwick B 6-4, Marcus Holba was the man of the match scoring a maximum for Randwick. Tony Poole scored a maximum for Forest Green C although his side still went down 7-3 at home to Phoenix E.
Things are very tight at the top of division four with only three points separating the top three teams with only three matches left to play. The Phoenix G team were handed no favours by their H team club mates. The G team edged the match 6-4 with Alan Walker scoring a maximum for the “visitors”. Second placed Randwick D had a more comfortable victory as maximums from Jim Hurford and George Morris gave them an 8-2 win against the visiting Cam C. Third placed Cam B also had a comfortable 8-2 victory away to Frampton D, Tony Averis was man of the match scoring a max for the visitors. Sam McIvor starred for the Phoenix J juniors with a maximum as they beat local rivals Nailsworth B 7-3 at home.
