Tanworth Taipans brought in Ben Rycroft-Stanley for their trip to Blazing Paddles and he fully justified his call-up by producing an unbeaten display. The teams were evenly matched in the early stages, and Paddles would have been hopeful of a favourable result after taking a 4-3 lead when the impressive Chris Dickens completed his third brace of the season to supplement wins from Nello Mauri and Wilf Chan. However Mick Welsh levelled the score by overcoming Mauri before, in the only contest to go the full distance, Rycroft-Stanley gave Taipans the advantage by narrowly defeating Dickens in the decider. The final result hinged upon the doubles where Rycroft-Stanley and Welsh, who also finished with a brace, secured Taipans' victory.
JLM Troopers included the experienced Jack Davis for the first time this season when they took on their stablemates Cavaliers and he lost just a single set in recording an impressive treble, before making it a perfect evening by adding the doubles in partnership with Piotr Penczkowski. However the pair were somewhat fortunate as they scored two points less than their opponents over the course of the five set encounter during which they had to overturn an early deficit before securing the decider 11-9. However those four successes were all the Troopers were able to muster as Steve Cull, Dave Bevington and Ed Sommers each produced braces to give the Cavaliers a narrow victory.
With most teams having played three matches the early league leaders are Snitterfield with 23 points, just one ahead of JLM Hussars, with Colebridge Pasties and Shottery A taking the next two positions.
