Herald Report February March

Shottery B produced a strong start against Henley A to lead 4-1 at the half way stage. However, Henley fought back to force a draw with Alan Cotton remaining unbeaten and joining Don McAdam, for his only game of the evening, to take the doubles against Tony Remes and Gareth Hepworth. Geoff Shepherd added Henley’s 5th. Braces for Remes and Hepworth together with Tm Fell’s victory over Peter Quince secured the draw.

Henley West Warwicks took the honours 8-2 against FISSC Vets with trebles from both Alison Stewart and Don McAdam. Peter Rodwell joined forces with Stewart to take the doubles from George Mudie and Brian Marston with Rodwell adding West Warwick’s other point. John Hunt and Mudie put the points on the board for the Vets, the standout game of the evening being Stewart’s closely fought victory over a brave Marston with Stewart eventually winning 11-9 in the 5th set.

Although Ashorne were on the wrong end of a 10-0 defeat when they entertained the Henley Pasties, they were unlucky not to get on the score card with 3 of the games going the distance. Jason Rainey, Mike Credland and Mike Evetts all recorded the trebles for the Pasties in this convincing win.

Henley West Warwicks entertained Shottery C in a match that was on a knife edge throughout and ended in an honourable draw with no player managing to keep a 100% record. Andy Rowland and Alison Stewart for West Warwicks together with Rob Poole and Kevin Taylor for Shottery all achieved braces with Peter Rodwell also got on the scorecard for West Warwicks. Shottery earned the draw with the doubles where Poole/Taylor eventually beat Stewart/Rowland in 1 of the 4 games to go the distance.

Henley B’s Dave Milton and Robert McCluskey both recorded trebles in their decisive victory over FISSC 8-2. Milton & McCluskey then came together to take the doubles against Mark Ian Jones and Mark Kingham with their final point coming from Dave Hatcher. Ian Jones and Kingham both got on the scorecard for FISSC.
