Farmers Derby

FISCC West Warwickshire/ FISCC Ashorne - match report by Andy Rowland.

FISSC A entertained their C side at Knights Lane last Thursday .

In the absence of the delayed Rowland and Rodwell, Jim Ferguson began proceedings in an all Scottish battle with George Mudie, and it was a battle royal in the match of the night with Jim overcoming a 2 game deficit to triumph in 5 very tight sets to claim the tic bragging rights.

With Rowland and Rodwell safely arrived there was some amusement as Rodwell ,on refreshment duties, presented them in a basket clearly borrowed from Little Red Riding Hood.

Back to the business of table tennis ,other highlights of the evening saw another five setter involving George Mudie, this time with Peter Rodwell, on this occasion George was the one to overcome a two game deficit to claim a well deserved victory, despite Rodwell being convinced the net was conspiring against him.

Peter Florence claimed two good victories over Rodwell and Ferguson in a rare appearance away from his 'B' team colleagues and startled Rowland for a while with a display or rarely seen 'positivity'.

Andy Rowland was undefeated for the hosts with two from Ferguson and a single from Rodwell plus the doubles as the A team triumped 7 - 3 in an enjoyable early season encounter.
