The Stockton & District Table Tennis League’s 2 big hitters secured great wins in this week’s round of matches. Northfield Advanced had a resounding 10-0 win over Northfield Belatrojo. John Crawford, returning to the league after a 4 year absence had a tussle with Jevon Chan losing in 4 close games but Chan always seemed destine to win. Belatrojo fielded 2 rising stars in Ben Savage & Troy Maddison, playing for the first time in the Stockton League, but, had a baptism of fire against the more experienced Cope brothers Joe & Jack. Joe returning from his full time coaching camp in Sweden to play the match. Throughout the match the games were fiercely fought with many close ends but on the night Advanced were just too good with Joe Standing out. Northfield Patriots had a comfortable 9-1 win over Northfield Meercats. Mark Simon earned man of the match status with his comfortable wins, star man for the Meercats, however was Gary Whyman taking ends of both Simon & Jimmy Scope and, along with David Noutch, had a great win over Scope & Lindsey Taylor in the doubles. Elsewhere Eaglescliffe A secured a good 8-2 win against Northfield Pingers. Geoff Salter showing his class with 3 comfortable wins. Tony Langley & Dave Williams picked up points for the Pingers. Langley defeating Nick corking 8 in the 5thafter being 2-0 down and 1-5 down at the turnaround in the last end. Dave Williams used his experience to beat Luke Bradburn 3-0.
In division 2 Hartlepool Westbourne B continued their fine form with another 10-0 win over Stockton Cricket Club. Jason Lloyd had a great night winning his 3 whilst Karen Sullivan put in a fine performance in another welcome return to the league. Paul Scrafton fought hard for the Cricket Club taking both Andy Greason & Gary Pearson to 4 & 5 ends respectfully. Eaglescliffe D also had an excellent 10-0 win over The Wanderers with the Defence of John Shallows proving too difficult for the Wanderers to cope with. Chris Rayner, playing again for Eaglescliffe after a few years out, had a great night with 3 excellent wins, his fine serves being key. Other standout performances in Division 2 this week were from Andy Jacomb for Bishop Aukland Braves & Stalwart Dave Drummond for Northfield Steelers.
