2017-18 Week 26 Report

Just four weeks for the Spalding and District League for league fixtures with the final outcome still not clear.

Current leaders Moulton S E picked up two more this week in an unfinished match with Nets n Edges.

However Jokers pulled that back thanks to three points from a match with South Holland started in January.

With the scores tied Jokers’ Wesley Roper took both singles and contributed to the doubles for a 4 – 1 win.

Holland have dropped back a point but were helped by a 2 – 0 lead in a match with Outsiders.

Jokers trail by just two with points in hand, while Holland have completed more matches than the two above them.

Despite a win over JDM Underdogs have slipped back too.

Kelvin Preville took the first and Phil Knowles added the next for a 2-0 lead, but JDM took the doubles in five ends before Jon Chesworth levelled matters.

However Preville won the final singles for the win.

At the foot of the table Mine’s a Pint picked up their first league win of the season against Aches & Pains.

A hard-fought match had every game go beyond three ends.

The Pinters took the first in four through Jeremy Hitcham before Garry Wilkinson levelled in four.

The doubles went to The Pinters in five before Wilkinson came from behind to level again.

Andrew Hay won them the match, coming from behind and taking the fourth and fifth ends on deuces.

Division 2 is much nearer a resolution.

Leaders Pottermus Clarets consolidated their position by taking a 2-0 lead in their match with Hurricane Brothers, Tom Chesworth scoring a double.

200up took advantage with the same score against MatDuf, moving them into second spot.

Clarets have a 22-point lead, though Hurricanes are better placed with games in hand.

It is looking as if the match between the pair could be mutually destructive.

Clarets also began two other matches in the cups.

In Round 2 of the Guardian Cup they hold a 66-49 lead over Hurricanes, though the latter are likely to get the added handicap.

They lead Outsiders by 1-0 in the semi-final of the Marylands Cup.

Tonight (Tues) sees the first instalment of the Individual competitions. Don’t be late.
