Mini Match Report
Despite the foul weather the crowd turned out in numbers ( 3) for this massive match.
As I entered the newly named Parc des Princes I was bombarded with questions ....." Why have you changed the name " , "Are you a closet Man U fan " , " Have we sold out " , " Are you getting a bung " and most hurtfully of all " Why is your pantry full of tins of Princes Red Salmon " ?
I ignored them all and chose to concentrate on the match.
The stakes were high. The A team looking to cement a Champions League spot and the B team trying to avoid relegation.
A team captain Darren who increasingly is behaving like a coach rather than player yet again dropped himself going with a very strong line up of Matt Wilson , Colin Turner, Michael Stewart and David Noden. The massive news coming out of the camp was that Mr Noden had withdrawn his transfer request and was staying with the lads for next season - what a boost for the team!
The B team were still without long term absentee David Britton , replacing him with the ever reliable Andrew Armstrong. Joining Andy were regulars B's Captain Roger Neal , Gerard Wilson and Martyn Coleman.
I'm not going to say too much about the match as the scoreline says it all and I don't want to intrude on collective grief.
Sadly despite trying their very best there was a significant gulf in quality between the two teams. That said there was some superb table tennis played by all 8 players with some trully memorable points.
This is a result that leaves the A team looking odds on for a top 3 finish and the B team needing snookers to avoid the drop ........now where's Les Dodd when you need him ?
