Mini Match Report - C team 4 Argyle B 6
This was an encouraging start for the C team.
Written off before the start of the season ( by themselves ) as relegation fodder was this going to be a relegation battle in the first match of the season ?
Perhaps not. Argyle had the impressive Julian Quirk playing his first match since his free transfer from Formby HT.
Both teams were strengthened by subs - Les Dodd walking the 20 yards from his emporium for this away game and Southport league legend and husband of the club champion Dave Mullan for the C team.
Josiah Nix made his debut alongside regulars Josh Taylor and Ray Hibbs.
This was a really close match which could have gone either way and would have resulted in a draw or even win for the C team if Josh and Josiah ( try saying that after a shandy ) had had a little more luck in their doubles match and Josh had been able to convert his excellent comeback from 2-0 down to 2-2 against Mike Mc Cormick before losing in the fifth.
An excellent double from evergreen Ray Hibbs and the customary Dave Mullan win v Les together with a doubles win for Ray and Dave over Angus and Les produced the 4 points and represented a good start to the season.
