Season 2022-23 Preview

NA Buzzards will have their work cut out to retain their Division One title, with club colleagues NA Batmen & Torbay Academy 1 strengthening their teams.  The champions are likely to emerge from these three teams although the remaining teams will all play their part in determining the eventual winners. Brixham and NA Eagles have recruited well while the Halwell teams and NA Condors field similar teams to last season.

Division Two, which was very closely contested last time out, looks to be very strong again. Torbay Academy 2, Dawlish Aces, Brixham Gulls & Brixham Trawlers all look to be excellent contenders for the title. NA Falcons and Torre Titans could also be in the mix. NA Owls and NA Raptors have new blood to help with their challenge. The Taverners, perhaps a little lucky to avoid the drop, will surely improve on last season's effort.

The Third division is wide open with virtually all the teams in with a chance.  NA Hawks, having lost key players, are not as strong so club mates NA Kestrels will fancy their chances. Torbay Academy 3 will be there or thereabouts as will the Torre teams, Vikings and Tornadoes.  The Grove have a change of personnel and will again be difficult to beat when fielding their strongest team.  Torbay Academy 4, full of experience, are back playing their home matches at the Academy after their brief journey to Babbacombe! NA Harriers will be looking to establish themselves in the third division.

It looks like the Fourth division will be split in half with teams full of experienced players at the top and a really good number of newcomers to league table tennis battling it out in the lower half.

Torbay Academy 6 is full of excellent players at this level who have already proved themselves and will start as favourites. Dawlish Renegades look good and there are experienced players in both the NA Ospreys & NA Merlins teams.  NA Kites has a mixture of talent while Torbay Academy 7, Dawlish Doubtfuls and NA Vultures introduce many new players to the league who will be wanting to show what they can do.

So another excellent season is anticipated as we return to normality following COVID interruptions.  Doubles has been reintroduced on the match card, the Early Season Tournament returns on the 13th November and the Team Handicap cups are back in the fixture schedule.
