PRESS REPORT – Sunday 26th Jan

NA Batmen have opened up a six-point lead at the top of the first division following their superb 8-2 win over closest rivals and clubmates NA Buzzards.  Man of the match Dennis Gibbs led from the front and was well supported by Shaun Gibbs and Naomi Jackson.  Torbay Academy 1 showed they are not going to give up their title easily with a 9-1 victory over Halwell. Patrik Cincala and Jakub Piwowar were unbeaten for the Academy as they caught up NA Buzzards in the runners-up spot.  NA Eagles secured an excellent draw at Brixham Sharks.  NA Condors climb a couple of places to 5^th following their 9-1 win over Brixham Pirates. Giles Tushingham and Chris Jacob were unbeaten for the Newton Abbot team.

Dennis Gibbs – NA Batmen

The second division is building up to an exciting climax as just five points separate the top six teams. Leaders Marldon didn’t play this week which enabled all the others to close the gap.  The youngsters of Torbay Academy 3 are on top form and blew away the challenge from NA Falcons. Ivan Vaplaks and Kacper Piwowar were unbeaten as they defeated the Falcons 9-1.  Paul Hine was again unbeaten as Denbury Tykes got back to winning ways with a fine 8-2 win over Torbay Academy 2.  Brixham Trawlers stay in the mix with an Ian Saxby inspired 6-4 win over Marldon Tykes. The Taverners excellent 9-1 win over NA Kestrels eased their relegation worries, Geoff Read and Colin Harrop were unbeaten for the Bishopsteignton outfit.

Torre Titans lead the third Division by four points following their 8-2 win over clubmates the Panthers, another Chris Harper maximum seeing the Titans to victory.  Josh Redfern’s fine maximum for the NA Owls was not enough for victory as they played out a 5-5 draw with Torbay Academy 5.  The Hasbeens suffered a setback in their challenge as they lost 7-3 to Brixham Seals, Brian Pengelly and Joseph Edwards were unbeaten for the Seals.   The Torbay Academy 4 team of Ed Damanskas, David Rowsell and Tim Shears were too strong for the NA Harriers who suffered a whitewash defeat. Quillan Wilson and Derek Stratton secured maximums in NA Kites 8-2 victory over Brixham Dolphins.

Torbay Academy 6’s week off enabled The Grove to take over the leadership of the fourth division following their 6-4 win over Torbay Academy 7, David Pearson with another maximum for the Totnes team.  Prabhu Kashap and Peter Curtis were unbeaten as Dawlish Diamonds saw off their clubmates the Dynamos 9-1.  Struggling Brixham Swifts fought well but had little to show for their efforts in their 1-9 defeat at the hands of NA Ospreys, Henry Greet and Mike Halse with maximums for the Ospreys.  A Jasem Abu Ali maximum for his NA Vultures team could not prevent defeat for his side as they went down 7-3 to club colleagues NA Merlins.
