With fewer matches to play in the Fourth Division their league season is all wrapped up now. Entering the final round of matches, both Torbay Academy 5 and Torre Tigers were level on points, with the Academy top due to winning more games.  This meant the Tigers needed to go one better than the Academy in the final match.  With the Academy beating NA Kites 9-1, nothing short of a 10-0 would do for the Tigers in their match against Brixham Pirates.  Unfortunately for the Tigers they dropped a set, winning 9-1, so the teams finished level on 123 points each, making the Torbay Academy 5 side champions.  

In Division One, Brixham Gulls, with Mick Mercer in fine form, eased their relegation worries defeating basement side Halwell 7-3, leaving an 8-point gap between the teams with just two matches to play.  There were two heavy defeats for the injury struck Buzzards, going down to a Mark Burridge-inspired Dawlish Aces 8-2 and then suffering a 9-1 defeat at the hands of Brixham Sharks.

It is tight at the bottom of the 2^nd Division with just a handful of points separating the bottom three teams.  Marldon, with Helen Glover unbeaten, picked up 5 useful points in a draw with Brixham Imports and have games in hand over Taverners and Marldon Tykes.  Taverners went down 9-1 to Brixham Pirates, whose Martin Sharp and Stuart Shipley took maximums.  Marldon Tykes lost out to leaders Torbay Academy 3, as Dan Webster-Hall and Herbie Sage collected maximums in the Academy’s 9-1 win. Tykes’ Paul Hine prevented the whitewash.

The 3^rd Division is close at the top and the bottom.  The leaders, NA Hawks, with a Doug Morgan maximum, gained a fine 8-2 victory over 3^rd place Denbury Tykes. Second-placed Torbay Academy 4 closed the gap to just 5 points with a 9-1 victory over the basement side Hasbeens.  There are 4 teams in the mix at the bottom; NA Falcons went down 7-3 to Brixham Dolphins and remain in 5^th, Bradley Hilton and Tom Mercer with maximums for the Dolphins. There was nothing to choose between the other two relegation-threatened sides, Dawlish Diamonds and Brixham Diamonds, as they battled out a 5-5 draw.

Torbay Academy 1 march on in the Cup competitions at the expense of other Academy teams, reaching the semi-finals of the Challenge Singles Cup by defeating their 2nd team 5-2, and the semi final of the Dyment Doubles beating their 6^th team 5-3.  Also going through to the Challenge Cup semi-finals this week are NA Falcons, who defeated Torres R Us 5-1.
