Newton Abbot Eagles go to the top of the 2nd Division following a whitewash victory over Marldon Tykes.  The Eagles’ side of Andy Tyrrell, Jim McIvor and Ed Crawford had to battle all the way for their maximum points haul and now lead Torbay Academy 3 by 3 points.  A man-of-the-match performance from Ed Thompson helped his Battlers team to an 8-2 victory over Marldon and climb to 3rd place in the table.

With Torbay Academy 1 having the week off, 2nd placed NA Batmen closed the gap at the top to just 6 points, with a narrow victory over club mates the Buzzards.  Dennis Gibbs was the star for the Batmen winning his 3 singles and then combining with son Shaun to take the final doubles and the match 6-4.  Basement side Halwell had mixed fortunes playing twice in the week. A fine 6-4 victory at Dawlish Aces was followed by a disappointing 3-7 reversal to Torbay Academy 2, however 9 valuable points from the 2 games keeps them in touch with Brixham Gulls at the foot of the table.  Halwell’s Dave Wadling was unbeaten against the Aces, while Javier Garcia recorded another maximum for the Academy side.

With the top two in Division 3 out of action, 3rd placed Denbury Tykes showed they are still well in contention for the title with a whitewash victory over NA Falcons: there are now just 7 points separating the top three sides. Steve Metcalfe with Pat and Huw Darch were rarely troubled by a Falcons team struggling at present, and on a poor run of results.
