SOUTH DEVON & TORBAY TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE

NA Batmen still lead the First Division thanks to a narrow 6-4 win over Torbay Academy 1. Patrik Cincala did his best to upset the leaders with another maximum, but the Batmen’s all round strength saw them home. Brixham Sharks, with Josh Millman playing his first match for the Sharks, whitewashed stablemates the Gulls. Battlers got their first points of the season thanks to a brace from Ed Thompson, but went down 3-7 to Torbay Academy 2 with Dave Wills getting a maximum for the Academy side.

NA Eagles head the Second Division following their 7-3 win at Torbay Academy, but it is close at the top with all the main contenders having lost matches.  Dawlish Aces’ fine 7-3 win over previously unbeaten NA Buzzards was thanks to maximums from Dave Davies & Masashi Ujiie. Brixham Imports are closing in at the top, as they also won 7-3, with Alan Maynard unbeaten for the Imports. Taverners move off the bottom following a draw with Marldon, whilst a Holly Johns’ maximum helped Brixham Pirates win 8-2 over Denbury Tykes, which leaves the newly promoted Tykes at the foot of the table.

Marldon Tykes, fairing better than their Denbury colleagues, head Division Three following an 8-2 victory  over Torbay Academy 3, with Kevin Ayling gaining a maximum for the Tykes. Previous leaders Brixham Diamonds were held to a 5-5 draw by NA Hawks, with Chris Meah in fine form for the Brixham side.  Two narrow victories by Hasbeens has moved them up the table, as they beat NA Falcons 7-3 and Dawlish Diamonds 6-4. Both Lee Passmore of the Falcons and Bruce Freeman of the Diamonds gained maximums for their sides but the Hasbeens team of Richard Fitzgerald, Joe Smallshaw & Mike Wickens did enough to forge the victories. Torre Bats secured a fine 8-2 win over NA Falcons with a Tony Nguyen maximum, supported well by new signing Henry Smithson.

A Richard Salt maximum for NA Kites in their 8-2 victory over Torre Tigers means they head the Fourth Division. Second place NA Kestrels were held to a draw by Torbay Academy 6, whose Curtis Sage gained a well-fought maximum.  Brixham Panthers, with Marilyn Parton & Issy Brown in fine form, defeated stablemates the Swifts 7-3
