SOUTH DEVON & TORBAY TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE

Early leaders of the First Division are N A Batmen who came away from Brixham with a fine 9-1 victory over the Gulls, Nick Halse & Dennis Gibbs securing maximums for the Batmen with Mick Mercer preventing the whitewash with a fine victory over Batmen’s’ Shaun Gibbs. Another Patrik Cincala maximum helped Torbay Academy 1 to a 7-3 win at Halwell.

A Dave Davies maximum helped his Dawlish Aces side bounce back from last week’s defeat to beat Torbay Academy (3), 6-4. Newlypromoted Denbury Tykes were beaten 6-4 at home by a good all-round performance from N A Eagles. N A Buzzards started their campaign with an impressive 7-3 victory over Brixham Pirates, and Charlie Usher, on his debut in the league, gained a fine maximum for the Buzzards.

Marldon Tykes, with another 10-0 victory, are early leaders of the 3^rd Division, the unlucky recipients at the end of this whitewash being the Hasbeens. Hot on their heels are N A Hawks who secured a 9-1 win over Dawlish Drifters, Brixham Dolphins who defeated Torre Bats 8-2, and Torbay Academy 4 who also picked up their 2nd win of the season beating Dawlish Diamonds 9-1. Maximums for Hawks’ Mike Halse & Mike Coxhead, Dolphins’ Nick Shipley and Academy’s Jerry Hollings & Herbie Sage.

N A Kites are early leaders of the 4^th Division, the father and son team of Kevin and Richard Salt well supported by Lewis Short defeating Torbay Academy (5) 8-2. Torre Tigers started their campaign with a 9-1 win over Brixham Panthers. A Mark Halse maximum for N A Owls was not enough to defeat stablemates the Kestrels, going down 3-7 to a good all-round team performance from the Kestrels’ Peter Tarjan, Joe Strickland & Kevin Bastow.
