This set up what was to be an interesting insight into the training of leading England junior players, in order to compete at the highest level and an eye opener for our youngsters. Several exercises were set by the Taiwan coach called Lim with his focus on establishing core fundamentals of forehand, backhand, movement and serve. The sessions were four lots of 3/4 hour duration and our players performed extremely well with the longer, more intense training. Several division one players attended the session to provide the best possible feeding for developing players. Thanks go to Martin Lowe, Peter Lee, Neil Raine, Glen Hodgson, Richard Dent and Guy Whiting for giving up their Sunday afternoon ! Ryedale number one James Rule also attended.
During the 1/4 hour breaks Martin, Ashley and James Rule challenged Lim to some games to 'check out' his credentials and they were as expected well beaten with all three players failing to win a single game,
The session attracted local players down to watch the demonstrations, exercises and tips on offer during the day, which helped create a great atmosphere, and the days events were recorded for the club by a local sports photographer. Further action shots are on the website.
